It started…

 Spur Farm began (quite literally) as a spur of the moment decision—a long time dream actualized for Veronica and Mona.
It was clear that when we met, we were at a crossroads. Veronica has been in the restaurant business for 25 years and in the blink of an eye her restaurant burned to the ground. In the devastation, she turned to her beekeeping and gardening.                                                                                            Mona’s natural affinity to nurture led her to raise chickens and garden. After spending years learning all she can, she was ready for her next big step.
We both bring our own expertise to Spur Farm but most importantly, we share the same passion for leaving the Earth better than we found it. We grow a diverse variety of mostly heirloom vegetables using a regenerative agriculture method. Following guidelines for best farming practices, we are excited to branch out and experiment to bring you things you won’t find at other farms in the midwest.

Veronica’s insight

For me, gardening has a spiritual meaning. I feel I’m reaching states of consciousness that are waking me up to the energy of the plants. Being connected with nature and discovering the healing powers of plants inspires me to share this knowledge .
